Schedule Briargrove Music Arts offers 30 minute and 1 hour lessons once a week. Parents and teachers will arrange a particular day and time for the lesson. This time will be the student's permanent time each week secured by tuition paid on the first of each month by automatic draft.
Registration and Tuition Briargrove Music Arts charges a family registration fee of $50.00. Students enrolled in lessons will not be required to renew their registration each semester unless the student withdraws or is automatically withdrawn for non-payment. Upon return, the student will be required to pay the registration fee if no other family members are enrolled. Our monthly tuition rate is $130.00 per student for 30 minute lessons and $260.00 for one hour lessons. Tuition is always a flat rate and due on or before the first lesson of each month. Payment method is by automatic draft at the beginning of each month. Briargrove Music Arts charges by the month and not by the lesson. Most of the time, students will have four lessons per month. When a fifth lesson falls in the month, there is no additional charge. The month of December will always have only three lessons and January will have four. No make-up lessons, refunds, or credits are given for the time we are closed.Students withdrawing for December will lose their times and be required to find another available day and time upon return as we can not hold lesson times. The re-registration fee per student will be charged.
Consultation Lessons Our consultation lessons provide you with the opportunity to find out more about private lessons, explore student-teacher compatibility, teaching styles, and to discuss expectations and concerns. This type of lesson is great for students who are unsure of which instrument they would like to study, the very young beginner, and students with previous music experiences or changing teachers. Because we can not offer this time permanently to a student ready to enroll, the rate is higher than a pro-rated lesson. If, at the completion of the consultation lesson, the potential student decides to register, the difference will be applied to the upcoming tuition. Consultation lessons may be scheduled and paid for only via our website. They must be paid for in advance in order for us to hold the time slot. You may find this option in the drop down menu under Register & Pay.
Withdrawal There is no contract. Please notify the business office before the first lesson of the next month and fill out the withdrawal form. Your automatic draft, will be stopped.
Materials Students are required to have materials assigned by their teacher. We can order them and provide a receipt for reimbursement or you may search for the materials online or at your local music store. Some teachers may recommend, but not require, some type of recording device (e.g. digital recorder, iPad, cell phone, etc.) so the student may record portions of the lesson, music, and other pertinent information.
Absences, Tardies, and Makeup-Lessons Because we do not charge extra for months with five lessons (this occurs about four times per year) our instructors can only offer one make-up lesson/reschedule per school semester as long as advanced notice is given or it is an illness. Makeup-lessons will not be permitted for no call-no show absences nor will refunds or credits be issued. The tuition remains the same each month, regardless of any missed lessons. In the event that your teacher misses a lesson, the teacher will provide a make up lesson or a substitute will be assigned to you. Please make every effort to arrive on time for your lesson. Many of our teachers book students back to back and can not extend the lesson past the scheduled session time as following students have their own schedules to which they must adhere. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Holidays and Closings Lessons missed due to closings on Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day are all eligible to be rescheduled. All students will receive three lessons in December and four lessons in January and the studio will close for Christmas and New Year holidays. For the safety of our students and staff, we will follow HISD closings concerning weather and safety. Lessons missed due to emergency closings are eligible to be rescheduled.
We remain open all summer. In order for our students to maintain progress, we offer summer lessons.
